  • Warning: TFS 2008 SP1 and WSS 2.0

I usually try to avoid the "me too" style blog posts, but this one seemed like a good idea - especially since some of my clients will run across it and may not easily find the solution. I've been asked numerous times about any unexpected side effects of installing TFS SP1 and so far I've been able to...

You can't solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that created it. — Albert Einstein (1879-1955) Yesterday I spent a lot of time trying to get a speed radar to work on my .NET application. Every test was giving us diferent results. We made hundreds of tests, but every time we thought we found...

  • SharePoint Extensions for VS 2005

*sigh* Turns out SharePoint is a pretty darn complex horse to ride. Remember that if you're going to build custom web parts, you'll need the latest version of the extensions. If memory serves, they are CTP because the production release will come out with VS 08, similar to the WCF stuff. Anyway, go here...

  • Interactive Developer Maps

I believe that as you age in the software development business, you start realizing that there is very little new in the world. This means that for someone like me who doesn't read very fast and has kids who need shoes, the desire to go out and purchase a new 60 dollar book about the latest technology...

  • Introductions

Many thanks to Joe for allowing me a venue here at ASP.net! My previous blog is at http://frameworkpatterns.blogspot.com and, as you may notice, it got a LOT of traffic and allowed me to really open the eyes of the uneducated masses. In reality, it allowed me to vent now and then but I never put much...

Finally, we have a full, RTM version of the Visual Studio extensions! The download page says March 15th, but I haven't seen anyone mention it around yet - could it be just me that missed the boat? I got it from Mark Bower's blog , but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else. On one hand, this is great...

Bil Simser describes in this post that it is possible to use WSS SP2 with SharePoint Portal Server, although not all new features are supported in Portal Server. Patrick Tisseghem says in a comment on this post that there will be no SP2 for SPS. I’m wondering how you can get SharePoint Portal Server...
